Qualcomm (QCOM.O) sees 10% sequential sales growth in smartphones given overall Android smartphone restocking. On the other hand, Arm only guided for mid to high single-digit sequential sales growth for its royalty revenues, the brokerage added. Arm on Wednesday forecast a third-quarter revenue range with a midpoint of $760 million, below analysts' estimates of $767.84 million, according to LSEG data. But its annual revenue forecast was above estimates, as it benefited from a surge in companies designing new chips to tap the boom in artificial intelligence applications.

More than two out of three employees (67%) spend less than 30 minutes reviewing benefits options during open enrollment season, while almost half spend less than 20 minutes, a new Voya Financial survey shows. To get enrollment over with quickly, more than 90% of employees click the same options as last year, a new report by insurer Aflac shows. Compound that figure from enrollment every November, and you can see how your options can create a solid financial future or a shaky one. "Open enrollment isn't just a formality. After all, things might have changed since the previous open enrollment.

AMD boss Lisa Su said she "expected some growth going into 2024 as we think about sort of the AI PC cycle and some of the (Microsoft) Windows refresh cycles". Still, some investors see the lack of AI apps as a potential hurdle for their adoption.

The headquarters of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are seen in Washington, July 6, 2009. One said some firms could pay as much as $50 million. The SEC has previously negotiated two other large group settlements as part of its "off-channel" communications probe. In August, regulators fined nine Wall Street firms, including Wells Fargo (WFC.N) and Societe Generale (SOGN.PA), a combined $549 million over employees' use of personal messaging apps. In September 2022, it fined 16 firms, including Goldman Sachs, Morgan Stanley, Citigroup and Bank of America, $1.8 billion for similar lapses.

For investors looking to weed out climate laggards from portfolios, these are vital questions but existing guidelines on emissions reporting and new rules due to come in for the United States and Europe are unlikely to provide hard answers. The United States is on track to announce similar rules this year and the corporate standard, first launched in 2001 and revised in 2004, is also embedded in other international emissions reporting standards. Nonetheless, many investors scrutinise carbon emissions data to gauge how polluting a company is, how it compares with rivals and how this might affect its bottom line and share price. Another area of investor concern is how companies account for their own energy use, or Scope 2 emissions. The GHGP allows companies to buy green energy to offset their emissions, using contractual instruments such as renewable energy certificates, and reflect this in their reporting.

The biggest week of this earnings season showed us that things aren't as bad as many feared. The week ahead of earnings, including several more Club names, should tell us more. The results are always important, but it's the guidance and management commentary we will really hone in on to better understand the path ahead. In Amazon's case, a solid first quarter for its AWS cloud business was overshadowed by management seeing a material slowdown in April. ET: Nonfarm Payrolls Looking back It was the biggest week of this earnings season for the Club as several of our mega-cap holdings and industry bellwethers reported results.
[1/3] Dominion lawyers embrace after Dominion Voting Systems and Fox settled the defamation lawsuit over Fox's coverage of debunked election-rigging claims, in Wilmington, Delaware, U.S., April 18, 2023. At least 31 lawyers from nine different law firms worked on the case, court filings show. It was not immediately clear how large a share of the settlement the firm would receive in legal fees. The filings do not include recent costs associated with preparing for trial or the success fees lawyers could earn from the settlement. Fox News also hired Paul Clement and Erin Murphy, top appeals court lawyers who have advocated for conservative causes at the U.S. Supreme Court.
Stock futures opened higher Sunday evening as investors awaited details on the next steps in the Silicon Valley Bank crisis. Federal regulators are conducting an auction for Silicon Valley Bank. The major indexes are coming off a losing week after the collapse of SVB sent shockwaves through the stock market. On Friday Silicon Valley Bank was taken over by regulators after massive withdrawals a day earlier created a bank run. "If the market feels that SVB is an isolated event, then the fear and contagion driven selling may abate.
Crypto-focused Silvergate , which announced its plans to liquidate this week, is suffering from woes similar to that of failed Silicon Valley Bank . That is, Silvergate's distress is linked to rising interest rates – rather than the whims of digital assets. There is also an impact from the rising interest rate environment banks now find themselves in. "As the bank of choice for crypto, Silvergate Bank's failure is disappointing, but predictable," she tweeted Wednesday afternoon . Now, customers must be made whole [and] regulators should step up against crypto risk."
Approximately 43,000 refund checks totaling $69 million were issued in recent weeks to Voya Financial policyholders. When interest rates fell to near zero after the financial crisis, dozens of life insurers boosted costs for longtime policyholders, seeking to improve results as their investment income fell. Now they are giving partial refunds to tens of thousands of these customers to settle a wave of lawsuits spurred by the increases. Raising rates on people who bought their policies years in the past had historically been taboo. But facing potential losses, many U.S. insurers scoured the contractual language of their policies to identify ways to raise the amounts billed to customers.

The ARK Innovation Fund has lost around 67% year to date, more than tripling the decline of the S&P 500 index (.SPX). With the S&P 500 on pace for its biggest annual decline since the Great Financial Crisis, few funds are likely to escape 2022 unscathed. Wood's fund ranked 3,544 among all 3552 actively-managed U.S. equity mutual funds tracked by Morningstar. New York CNN —Oil stocks skyrocketed in 2022, so it’s no surprise funds that track the energy sector were Wall Street winners this year. The iShares MSCI Turkey exchange-traded fund had more than doubled as of December 19, according to data from Morningstar Direct. The Turkish economy has slowed recently as unemployment has risen, but the instability has not hurt Turkish stocks. The more details that emerge, the more I feel like this is going to make a great Michael Lewis book (and movie) one day. Among the highlights from his testimony include his assertion that the crypto market is "the largest Ponzi scheme in history." The Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund hasn't actively changed its strategy or holdings since 1935. Nearly a century after its inception, the Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund (LEXCX) is still going strong. That's why Client Portfolio Manager Christina Bargeron believes that the Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund was an unprecedented investment vehicle at its time — the "first truly passive offering" available to investors. "It's almost like taking a bet on your outlook for Union Pacific and energy," Bargeron explained. But going forward, Voya has no plans at all to change the guidelines for the Corporate Leaders Trust Fund.

For today's newsletter, I caught up with some finance pros over the weekend to get a sense of what we can learn from last week's earnings disappointments. Tech earnings were a huge disappointment and analysts don't see much relief on the horizon. "The common thread between the mega cap tech earnings reports this week is the companies' unwillingness to cut costs aggressively ahead of an economic slowdown, in spite of investor expectations," he said. What was your biggest takeaway from last week's Big Tech earnings? On the company's earnings call, its CFO said the surging dollar has cost Amazon more than $900 million more than expected.
The Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund is the "ultimate buy and hold," says manager Christina Bargeron. The fund hasn't changed its strategy since 1935 — yet it's still outperforming 94% of competitors. Christina Bargeron may be the client portfolio manager of the Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund, but she won't take credit for its outrageous outperformance this year. So far this year, the Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund is down just 2%, compared to the average 9% decline among other funds in its category. The widespread Depression-induced distrust of banks also ensured that no financial firms made their way into the Voya Corporate Leaders Trust Fund.
